2023-2024: OE@KCC’s Big Year
It’s a new academic year, and we’re going for a big one! We’ve got a new name, a new student fellow, and new year-long professional development fellowships for open education liaisons, open pedagogy, and teaching on the CUNY Academic Commons. We’ll also be working with faculty to convert four majors to Zero Textbook Cost programs- it’s going to be a very big year!
First up, our new name. We may have started with OER, but the KCC community has continued well beyond that entry point to explore many different aspects of open educational practices. As we seek to support the expanded horizons of our open educators, the name Open Education at Kingsborough, or OE@KCC for short, is far more fitting.
Along with our new name, we’ve got a new person! We are grateful to be joined this year by our inaguaral OE Student Fellow, Yasmine, and look forward to her assistance in keeping the student perspective centered in all of our projects. Yasmine will be taking the lead on expanding our commons site, posting links to all of the open artifacts that have been created and shared by KCC faculty, students, and staff over the years, and managing blog posts from the many different OE@KCC participants.
Of course, we’ll also be hosting events throughout the year to learn with and about the open education work being done all across the campus, and we’re always eager to hear from you- the faculty, staff, and students of KCC. What can OE@KCC do for you this year?
